Abstract.
Using column and thin-layer chromatography, carotenoid content was examined in the fins, the skin and the muscels of the Norway haddock (Sebastes marinus) individuals. Twelve carotenoids were found, with a predominance of tunaxanthin, doradexanthin and astaxanthin. The total carotenoid content in the body parts examined ranged from 0.776 (muscles) to 3.195 mg g-1 wet mass (skin).
