Abstract.
Investigations of southern Baltic ichthyofauna were carried out in
the region between the mouths of the Parsêta and £eba Rivers. Catches were
made using bottom trawls at depths from 2 to 45 m. The ichthyofauna composition,
length and mass of eight sea species which are considered to be non-commercial
were determined. The area covered by trawl method was used to determine
the biomass of sand eel, greater sand eel, sculpin, eelpout, sand goby,
garfish, lumpfish and hooknose. In the region described, sand lances (sand
eel, greater sand eel) had the greatest biomass among all
fish at depths to 10 m. In deeper waters, to 40 m, sculpin and sand
goby had the greatest biomass. The contribution of other species was very
insignificant.
