Last week, the National Marine Fisheries Research Institute (NMFRI) had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Anita Jaglarz from the Moredun Research Institute in Scotland.
The Moredun Research Institute is an international research center focused on the health of farmed animals. The institute conducts research on infectious diseases and develops new vaccines, diagnostic methods, and strategies for combating these diseases.
Dr. Anita Jaglarz leads a team studying diseases of species associated with aquaculture. During her visit, she presented to Dr.Eng, Joanna Szlinder-Richert, Professor of NMFRI, the scope of research carried out at the Moredun Research Institute.
The purpose of the meeting was to introduce the profile of activities and research facilities of NMFRI, as well as to discuss opportunities for establishing cooperation between the institutes.

Professor Dariusz Fey presented projects carried out at the Experimental Aquaculture Facility at NMFRI.

Professor Magdalena Podolska presented a fluorescence microscope.

Dr. Ilona Waszak presented the scope of research conducted at the Department of Food and Environmental Chemistry.

Research using NIR was presented by Karolina Jonko-Sobuś, M.Sc. and MEng. Marcin Białowąs.

Genetic research carried out at the Department of Fisheries Resources was presented by Dr. Anna Wąs-Barcz.

The use of AI in NMFRI research was discussed with Dr. Szymon Smoliński, Professor of NMFRI.

The activities of the NMFRI Gdynia Aquarium were presented by its Head, Artur Krzyżak.
I would like to sincerely thank everyone who shared the scope of their research conducted at NMFRI with our guest. Dr. Jaglarz was impressed by the Institute’s research capabilities and the commitment of its staff.
