On 10–11 September 2025, Puławy hosted the 4th Agricultural Science Congress – one of this year’s key conferences for the agricultural sector, bringing together science, administration and agricultural practice. The event was organised by IUNG-PIB (Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation – State Research Institute), PIWet-PIB (National Veterinary Research Institute) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The congress was devoted to, among other things, innovative solutions supporting sustainable agricultural development, environmental protection, food quality and safety.
Delegates from the National Marine Fisheries Research Institute actively participated in the congress. As part of the event, representatives of NMFRI gave the following lectures:
- Session I PIWet-PIB: Food and feed – quality and safety
Dr. Joanna Szlinder-Richert, Prof. NMFRI, presented the topic: “Circular economy and Polish fish processing – active substances in by-products“.
- Session II PIWet-PIB: Current problems in animal production
Tomasz Kulikowski, MSc, Eng., from the Department of Fisheries Economics at NMFRI discussed “Prospects for the development of aquaculture production in Poland and the EU, taking into account environmental, social and economic factors“.
In addition, during the congress, Prof. Magdalena Podolska from the NMFRI Department of Fisheries Resources was honoured with the state award “Meritorious for Agriculture”, which was presented by Minister Adam Nowak. The Congress in Puławy brought together a wide range of experts and representatives of various institutions – science, state administration and agricultural practice. It became a platform for the exchange of knowledge, identification of challenges and presentation of innovations, especially in the context of the impact of climate change, environmental protection and food safety. The presence and active participation of NMFRI confirm the Institute’s role as a key partner in research on living marine resources and aquaculture, and in shaping policies and practices leading to sustainable development.
