ICES discusses strategy regarding marine aquaculture during a meeting at the NMFRI

On 9–10 February 2017 a meeting organized by the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) was held at the NMFRI. The aim of the meeting was to determine the directions of works regarding marine aquaculture, in line with the priorities of the ICES Strategic Plan. It was undoubtedly the first time at the NMFRI to host the ICES delegation at such a high level. The council was represented by Cornelius Hammer (President), Anne Christine Brusendorff (General Secretary) as well as Simon Jennings and Eskild Kirkegaard (Chairs of the Science Committee (SCICOM) and Advisory Committee (ACOM)). In the course of the meeting, in which over 30 experts participated, a need to establish an expert group dealing with interactions between aquaculture and the marine environment, risk evaluation, methodological issues, scenario analysis, studies on the system capacity and modeling was expressed.
